Finding Hope. Growing Faith. One Harbor Stop at a Time.

A Journey of Grace and redemption; Anchored in Hope

The Voyage That Shaped Me

I came to know Jesus as a teenager, but like many people, my life has included seasons of faith, wandering, heartbreak, rebuilding, surrender, and learning what it really means to trust Him when the waters are anything but calm.

There have been storms I never expected to face. There have been losses I could not fix, relationships I could not untangle, prayers I could only place in God’s hands, and seasons when I had to learn that faith does not always mean understanding what God is doing.

But through every season, Jesus has remained faithful.

Looking back, I can see that some of the places I once thought were only broken pieces of my story became the very places where God began teaching me about grace, restoration, forgiveness, identity, hope, and the security we have in Him.

Over time, those personal studies became the beginning of something I never expected.

How Harbor Stop Began

Harbor Stop began in a very personal place.

My son is currently incarcerated and recently rededicated his life to Christ. As his mother, I wanted to encourage him in more than words. I wanted to help him understand Scripture, grow in his relationship with Jesus, and learn how to keep his faith even in a place where his circumstances could not immediately change.

So I began studying God's Word more than ever before.

I would take a passage of Scripture, dig deeper into what it meant, think about how it applied to real life, and write it in a way we could talk about together.

The studies were originally written for him.

They were a mother reaching through prison walls with the Word of God, reminding her son that his past did not have to define his future and that no wall, sentence, failure, or circumstance could place him beyond the reach of Jesus Christ.

But something deep inside my heart began happening as I wrote.

God started speaking to me too.

My Precious Family Woven Into the Journey

Harbor Stop may have begun through the studies I was writing for one son, but my heart has never carried only one burden. My family has been deeply woven into this journey, each in a different way.

I continue to pray for my youngest son, who has lost his way, as well as my oldest grandson and other family members whom I love dearly and continue to place in God’s hands. Loving people through difficult seasons has taught me that there are places where love cannot fix, change, or choose for someone else. Sometimes love means continuing to pray, continuing to hope, and trusting God with what is beyond our reach.

God has also given me strength through my middle son, who has remained faithful to Jesus, along with his wife and my grandchildren. Their faith, love, encouragement, and presence have been a source of strength through many weary seasons. They have reminded me to recognize God’s faithfulness in what is already before me, even while I continue praying over the things that remain unresolved.

Another unexpected gift came later in my life.

In 2020, I met my biological father. The following year, he came to live with me, beginning a chapter of my life I never could have anticipated. God gave me the grace to become his caregiver while continuing to work full time and carry the other responsibilities of life. It was not always an easy season, but it became a precious one.

Caring for my dad gave us time that neither of us had been given before. It taught me about grace in a deeply personal way: grace for the past, grace for the present, and grace to love someone through seasons of vulnerability and dependence. I had the privilege of caring for him until his passing in April 2026.

That season brought both restoration and loss, but I remain grateful that God allowed our lives to find one another when they did.

Each member of my family has shaped this journey in a different way. Some have taught me to pray and wait. Some have strengthened me when I was weary. Some have shown me what restoration can look like after years that cannot be recovered.

Each of these relationships has shaped my journey in a different way. Through the waiting, the restoration, the loss, the encouragement, and the prayers still being prayed, God has continued to teach me about love, surrender, endurance, and trust.

Later, as I studied and wrote for my son, I began to recognize those same truths speaking into the places of my own story.

When His Story Began Touching Mine

The more I studied Scripture for my incarcerated son, the more I realized that many of the truths I wanted him to understand were truths I had needed throughout my own life.

Writing about shame brought me back to the places where shame had once tried to define me. Writing about rejection reminded me of the wounds I had carried from people throughout my life.

As I moved into studies about fear, restoration, forgiveness, identity, obedience, and starting over, I began to recognize more of my own storms in those pages.

Eventually, Harbor Stop became more than a collection of studies written for one person. It became a place where my testimony, my son’s journey, and the truth of  Scripture began to meet.

Then it hit me,  we were not the only ones who needed these truths.

This Harbor Is for You Too!

Maybe you have never stepped inside a prison, but you know what it feels like to be trapped by something.

It may be your past, shame, grief, or the weight of a decision you wish you could change. You may be rebuilding after divorce, rejection, addiction, disappointment, or loss.

Perhaps you are praying for a son or daughter and wondering whether they will ever find their way home, or loving someone you cannot rescue no matter how much you want to.

You may be learning how to forgive, beginning again later in life, or trying to find your footing after a season that changed everything.

Sometimes life can look steady from the outside, while inside you are weary, carrying burdens few people see, and doing your best to keep your faith anchored.

Perhaps you are not in a storm at all. You simply want to know Jesus more deeply and learn how His Word speaks into everyday life.

Harbor Stop is for all of those places.

It is for people who have followed Jesus for years and people who are only beginning to wonder who He is. It is for the person standing confidently on the shore and the person barely holding onto the side of the boat. You do not have to have everything figured out before coming into the Harbor.

The Heart of the Harbor

The message behind this ministry is simple. Jesus is our Lighthouse. His Word is our compass. The Holy Spirit gives wisdom for the journey. Hope in Christ is the anchor that holds when circumstances do not. No matter how far someone has drifted, the Harbor is still open.

That is why so much of what I write speaks about storms, anchors, currents, lighthouses, voyages, and safe harbor. They are pictures of something Scripture teaches again and again: our security is not found in calm circumstances. It is found in Christ.

There will be storms.
There will be fog.
There will be moments when we lose our bearings.

But the Lighthouse has not moved.

Why I Write

I do not write because I have mastered every lesson found in these studies. I write because I have needed these truths in my own life.

My heart is for the mother praying for her child, the person carrying a past they wish they could rewrite, and the believer who loves Jesus but feels tired from the journey.

I write for those rebuilding after loss, learning how to forgive, or discovering that forgiveness and reconciliation are not always the same. I write for people who are learning who they are in Christ after years of allowing shame, rejection, failure, or the words of others to shape their identity.

Most of all, I write for the person who has found themselves somewhere they never imagined life would take them and quietly wonders whether God can still redeem their story and use their life for His purpose.

Jesus Can

That is the hope behind every study I write.

God can redeem what feels broken. He can bring purpose from places marked by pain, loss, regret, or disappointment. He can use parts of our story we once believed had no value.

I have learned that God does not waste surrendered places. Sometimes the very storm we wanted Him to remove becomes the place where we discover just how faithfully He holds us. What He teaches us there can later become a source of hope for someone navigating a storm of their own.

Still on this Voyage

I am still on this voyage myself, learning, growing, surrendering, and watching God redeem parts of my story I once believed could never be used.

There are prayers I am still waiting on and places where God continues to teach me to trust Him more deeply. Scripture still stops me in my tracks, challenges me, comforts me, and reminds me that there is always more to learn.

That is part of the heart behind Harbor Stop.

This is not one person standing safely on shore telling everyone else how to sail. It is one traveler pointing another traveler toward the Lighthouse.

If something God has taught me through my own storms can help someone else find hope, return to Jesus, open their Bible again, forgive, begin again, or simply hold onto faith for one more day, then even the difficult places can become part of something God uses for His purpose.
